Weekend Lead

Location: Saco, Maine

Summary: Works in conjunction with Scheduling, Purchasing and Engineering (quality control).This position is responsible for visual quality and quantity assurance of Yale Cordage products, inventory, and labeling of such goods. As well as all functions necessary to achieve total finished goods inventory control under the direction of the Purchasing, Scheduling, and Materials group – using both Lean Manufacturing and ISO9001 processes.

Reports to: Production Supervisor


  • Manage people effectively
  • Improve efficiencies constantly seeking better levels of productivity with both Lean Manufacturing and ISO9001 processes
  • Use and knowledge of various computers and programs necessary for labeling, stock movement, and receiving products. Identify problems with inventory, their cause, record keeping, transactions, and make corrections when necessary
  • Knowledge of Corporate procedures regarding accidents/injuries policies
  • Ability to open and close manufacturing facility
  • Ability to communicate with Alarm/Fire/Rescue personnel
  • Ability to operate forklift, pallet jacks, high lift, hand truck, inventory ladders, and other tools required helping facilitate movement of products
  • Package, label, and inventory rope and rope products
  • Participate in new hire training relating to manufacturing, ISO9001 and Lean Manufacturing
  • Ability to manage time well
  • Adhere to the safety policies of Yale Cordage, Inc.
  • Improve the overall operation, safety, quality, training and processes of the manufacturing area
  • Continue to oversee and validate inventory. This includes raw materials within the established scope of responsibility, finished goods and accessory products. Continue to implement and improve cycle count programs
  • Responsibilities for Manufacturing include: Train employees, document and establish training plans for QA/QC, computer operations and labeling as it relates to the raw materials and WIP receipts of manufactured products. Improve safety, workflow, and layout of area and operations

  • Experience in training and leading co-workers in all manufacturing departments
  • Computer literate

  • Full hand and finger dexterity
  • Attention to detail and craftsmanship
  • Self-motivated
  • Good math skills
  • Majority of tasks is done standing – with bending, climbing and working overhead
  • Ability to lift 70 lbs
