Old ropes with marine growth sometimes result in better performance in data acquisition than new. Yale has found a way to simulate old rope performance with its patented fuzz fairing process. As the rope is being braided continuous filament is injected into the sleeve structure. Various configurations are possible with, one, two, or three rows of fairing, materials from stiff to flexible, and lengths to twelve times the ropes diameter. Yale’s fairings are permanently entrapped in the rope structure and can be reeled on a winch without damage.
