HIGH DIELECTRIC STRENGTH ROPE

Saco, Maine, August 2002-Yale Cordage is pleased to announce its newest high tech rope, Hy-Dee™ Brait. Hy-Dee™ Brait is 100% olefinic copolymer converted on an 8-strand plaiting ropemaking machine. The result is a line that is torque free, flexible, easy to tuck splice, and has extremely high dielectric strength both wet and dry. When tested by an independent lab, Hy-Dee™ meets ASTM standard 1701 with dry tests at 100kV AC RMS leakage of 82 microamperes and wetted at 30KV results at less than 49 microamperes. As with any rope, Hy-Dee™ can be conductive, but it exhibits state of the art dielectric strength. Complete test method and results available upon request.

The secret is Aralube™ dielectric treatment, which coats each individual fiber bundle, helping the rope to maintain its dielectric purity even when exposed to “real world conditions” such as rain and particulate contamination. The Aralube™ also enhances the rope’s gripping power, especially helpful if handled with gloves.
