Yale Cordage Publishes White Paper on Anchoring TechnologyTwenty-page paper profiles new anchorline technology for improved strength, dynamic performance under load, handling qualities, and ease of storage. SACO, Maine - Yale Cordage has published a 20-page technical white paper on anchoring technology. "Yale has pioneered a new eight-strand anchorline that radically improves the art and science of anchoring," says Andy Howe, marine market manager. "In Anchoring Technology, we briefly review the evolution of anchoring systems, and detail the superior performance characteristics and advantages of eight-strand anchorlines over chain and traditional three-strand anchorlines. The paper includes detailed technological and mathematical data, and anchor-system recommendations for vessels to sixty feet in length." The paper reports that Nylon Brait, Yale's eight-strand anchorline, offers five important advantages over traditional three-strand nylon lines including:
The benefits of eight-strand nylon to the boat owner are substantial, according to Howe. "A boat at anchor with Brait will experience a more secure, softer ride with less destructive loading on deck hardware. And because Brait stows in a fraction of the space required by three-strand line, anchor lockers may be built smaller, or multiple or longer lengths of anchorline may be carried in the same amount of anchor locker space," he explains. Yale's Anchoring Technology white paper is available free of charge upon request, or it may be downloaded from the Yale Cordage Web site: www.yalecordage.com. ### Editor's Note: The Anchoring Technology white paper, including charts and graphs, is available digitally for reproduction.
