Data
Shock loads:
All high-modulus fibered ropes have low stretch and little tolerance for shock loads. It is ill advised to select a high-strength rope in an attempt to solve shock-loading problems. Yale PoBOn is made to Yale Cordage Specification #YCI-PO-0099.
Yale PoBOn is a double-braided rope consisting of a polyester sleeve covering an inner load-bearing core of 100% Zylon® PBO. Zylon PBO poly (p-phenylene-2, 6-benzobisoxazole), manufactured by Toyobo of Japan*, is a rigid isotropic crystal polymer. It has outstanding tensile strength, high modulus, flame resistance, and thermal stability. PBO has some moisture gain in the range of 0.6%, slightly greater than polyester, and is dimensionally stable against humidity. Yale PoBOn is identified by a single black strand and a single red strand separated by four white strands braided into the sleeve. Specific Gravity: 1.56 *More information on Zylon fiber is available at the Toyobo Web site: toyobo.co.jp.
Due to its moisture gain, high-dielectric applications are not recommended for PBO ropes.
