STEP 1   Strip the braided UNILINE® cover and tape for a length equal to 120 times the rope diameter, being careful not to damage the core yarns (see photo A). To strip and splice a little tension should be applied to the rope, as between two vises, or a post and a come-along. STEP 1
STEP 2 STEP 2  Form eye around thimble and secure with whipping cord or clamp (see photo B)
STEP 3  Mark 2 spaces, each space being equal to 9 times the diameter of the rope, plus 6 spaces equal to 6 times the diameter of the rope, plus 3 spaces equal to 4 times the diameter of the rope (see photo B and Table 1)

STEP 4
A) Separate the core yarns and divide into 4 equal bundles

B) Individually wrap the 4 core yarn bundles around the rope to the last mark (one at a time and alternately in opposite directions) so that bundle #1 and #3 are going in one direction and bundles #2 and #4 are going in the opposite direction. Make sure that each wrap crosses over at each mark. tape each bundle at the last mark.

C) Keep bundles flat when wrapping around the rope to make a better looking job

D) Bundles 1 and 3 should be wrapped so that they are slightly short of the marks

E) Bundles 2 and 4 are then wrapped next to them, slightly beyond the marks but abbutting one and three (see photos C, D, and E)

STEP 5 and 6 STEP 5  Cut yarn bundles 1 & 2 off short at the last mark and tape securely to avoid unwinding (see photo F).

STEP 6 Very tightly whip the bare rope immediately after the last mark for a distance equal to approximately two times the diameter of the rope (see photo F).

A flexible waterproof cement should be applied to the rope where it is to be whipped and again on top of the whipping. (E.g. contact adhesive or neoprene)
