Production Supervisor - 2nd Shift

Department: Production

Reports to: VP Operations

General Summary:

Provides leadership on the manufacturing floor for hourly personnel. Organizes workflow through the factory and identifies ways to streamline the manufacturing process. Trains, rates, and reviews employees. Maintains workforce discipline, and enforces company policies. Responsible for achieving production goals while maintaining strict quality control on all of Yale Cordage products.  Works in conjunction with Planning, Purchasing, and Engineering to develop new products and ensure seamless production.

Essential Job Functions:

– Training and leading employees in all manufacturing departments.
– Promote and enforce good workforce discipline, punctuality, attendance, and productivity.
– Increase productivity using both Lean Manufacturing and ISO9001 processes.
– Use various computers and programs necessary for labeling, stock movement, WIP, work orders, and receiving products.
– Identify problems with inventory, their cause, record keeping, transactions, and make corrections when necessary.
– Adhere to and promote the safety policies of Yale Cordage, Inc.
– Improve workplace safety and enforce policy regarding accidents/injuries policies.
– Ability to open, close, and secure manufacturing facility.
– Communicate with Alarm/Fire/Rescue personnel as required.
– Operate forklift, pallet jacks, high lift, hand truck, inventory ladders, and other tools as required.
– Provide direction in Twisting, Winding, Braiding, Rigging, and Finishing rope products.
– Participate in new hire training relating to manufacturing, ISO9001 and Lean Manufacturing.
– Improve the overall operation, safety, quality, training and processes of the manufacturing area.
– Manage the raw materials inventory in support of upcoming manufacturing requirements.
– Improve safety, workflow, and layout of area and operations.

Minimum Job Qualifications:

– Experience with ERP.
– Strong organizational and communication skills.
– Attention to detail and craftsmanship.
– 1-3 years of previous leadership experience.
– Lean manufacturing experience.
– Majority of tasks is done standing – with bending, climbing and working overhead.
– Ability to lift 70 lbs.
– Work with minimal supervision and provide supervision to 10+ people.
