Location: Saco, ME
Reports to: Shipping Supervisor
The Shipping Clerk is responsible for executing the shipping of goods, interfacing with Customer Service to expedite shipments. The Clerk will also participate in inventory control, and receiving of Company goods, inventorying, and labeling of such goods.
-Coordinate and schedule shipments with UPS, LTL, Air, etc.
-Prepare necessary paperwork involved in each shipment
-Maintain a working knowledge of each carrier that Yale Cordage has direct involvement with, which includes transit times, discount structures, etc.
-Record of daily logs for both shipping and receiving
-Participate in the control of the inventory which includes basic computer skills
-Track and or expedite shipments
-Quality control for product being shipped (appearance, etc.)
-Interact and coordinate with Customer Service
-Receive inbound stock and other items for Yale cordage, Inc.
-Interact with Finishing Department as necessary regarding product status
-Independently, efficiently and effectively run the department in the absence of the Supervisor
-Help in other departments as time allows, or as directed, in order to meet business demand
-Other duties as assigned
-Ability to lift up to 70 pounds repeatedly
-Ability to follow detailed operating directions
-Basic math skills
-Full finger and hand dexterity
-Ability to learn and command knowledge of Quality Control standards for Yale Cordage, Inc.
-Attention to detail and craftsmanship
-Ability to meet Quality Assurance expectations and packaging requirements
-Strong, independent work ethic
-Good communication skills
Working Conditions/Physical Demands:
Majority of tasks are done standing. Regular and sustained periods of strenuous physical exertion, requiring ability to lift, carry and position heavy objects using proper body mechanics and techniques.
